Kinja'd!!!

This is my second container today, plus the stuff I had this morning. I'll be at 5 Liters down the hatch by 5:00. NO. SLEEP. TIL OPPO.

And why is getting a convertible painted with all the prep done so expensive?! I got a quote for $7 to $8 grand! Looks like I'll be getting Maaco for the '66 :/

paint jobs period are expensive, the material cost alone is ridiculous and don't go Macco, unless you do all the bodywork and masking yourself. They just roll a car in and shoot.

Just downed a 20 oz of Snapple Half 'n Half (Ice tea/lemonade). Then I filled it back up with regular water from the cooler here. Pretty hot today.

I drink plenty of tea. Have you drank Twinings Voyage teas?

Every day with my loose leaf brewer over ice. I do mine by the glass to limit my consumption as, if I don't, I'll have your sized containers and will be peeing all day:

I have that same Boss 302 model, except in yellow!

I have a set of imported teas I get wholesale in 1 or 2lb vacuum sealed packages. Loose leaf, no bags. It's like a personal ritual for me to brew.

5 liters? I have a feeling you'll have no liquids left in your body tonight?

I would do more loose leaf if I had a dish washer, but if I forgot to rinse a cup right away, I'd be the one scraping >_<

I would drink the water here, but it's super hard and tastes weird. @_@

I'm British. Your 'tea' is strange to me, foreign one.

I have not, do you recommend a specific kind?

I use a ceramic strainer built into the cup. Protip: if you don't want to wash it right away, fill the bottom of the cup with warm water after drinking it. The water will keep the leaves moist and from sticking until you can find time to wash it with the rest of the dishes. It also prevents the leaves from eating at the enamel since it dilutes the acidity slightly.

Iced tea and sweet tea don't deserve to be called tea, in my book.

I have 100% of the bodywork done, but I'm guessing they're assuming there's more to do (there always is, it seems). I wouldn't mind taking the trim off and masking everything myself, then throwing it on the trailer and bringing it over.

Seconding. Good paint alone costs what a Maaco job does, which should be an indication as to cheapness.

There is always more sanding to do. I would take all the trim off, a body shop would do that first thing. If you broke the car down more then the body shop price will come down but still get a nice paint job. Maaco jobs are fast and full of orange peel from a couple buddies experiance not enough paint to try and buff out the peel. Also seen good ol tiger stripes on a slightly metallic color

I'm not necessarily opposed to it—it's just unusual. Here, everyone drinks tea by the bucket load, but unless you're in a coffee shop, you're very unlikely to see iced tea of any variety. It's almost universally black, with milk and the potential for sugar.

The only one I didn't like that much was Russian taiga but it was drinkable too. The rest of them are pretty good, I think my favorite is Brazilian baia.

Methinks a lot of it has to do with climate: it's consumed in the same ludicrous quantities in the southern US (and most of the country, for that matter), but no one wants hot tea when it's 100*F outside.

I do love a traditional hot tea when it's cooler out, although I'm still never quite gotten the milk/sugar situation in a hot tea, it's completely foreign to me. I get why people feel the need to plow the stuff into crappy coffee (simple fix: buy better coffee and use proper brewing methods), but tea is so inoffensive to my palate it just doesn't make sense!

It's just the way it's done, I suppose. Tea isn't just a drink to the British—it's a key part of our social culture. The first thing you do, whenever anyone comes over to visit, is offer them tea. When someone's sad: tea. When someone's happy: tea. Celebrations: tea. Commiserations: tea. Tea before bed. Tea with breakfast. Tea with lunch. Whenever you have builders, or a plumber, or an electrician over to work on your house, you always make them tea. Tea.

Brewing tea is generally the first complex culinary task a child will learn to perform, and the addition of milk is, well, the default. It's essentially exactly the opposite perspective to what you're describing; it would never occur to the average Briton not to put milk in tea.

Lipton generic black tea for me. And a packet of Via on the side in case the tea doesn't liven things up.
